TWEN and Westlaw

All St. John’s School of Law students are provided with complimentary WestLaw accounts.  WestLaw is a wonderful tool for doing online research and also gives you access to the Academic TWEN pages.  You will receive your WestLaw account information and TWEN registration key before your first day of class.

Instructions for Accessing TWEN

TWEN is an online system where professors will create special course webpages where students can find assignments, access course materials, and submit assignments. TWEN can only be accessed via www.lawschool.westlaw.com using the Westlaw TWEN Key Number You will receive a personal TWEN Key Number before or at your Orientation.  For questions about your TWEN Key Number, please contact Sheila Aronson: aronsons@stjohns.edu. To register your password go to www.lawschool.westlaw.com and click “REGISTER” and follow the steps.  You will receive a confirmation message and a follow up email.

Once you have registered for TWEN, you will need to add your classes to your TWEN “My Courses” listing as follows:

  1. Click on the TWEN link at the top of the screen, it is located on the grey strip.
  2. Click on Add a Course.
  3. Put a check mark next to the classes you are enrolled in and hit submit at the bottom of the screen. The course will now be added to your TWEN homepage. You will only have to follow these instructions one time. If you have any questions regarding the TWEN procedures, please call customer support at 1-800-850-WEST or contact our St. John’s Westlaw Account Manager, Estee Waxman at estee.waxman@thomsonreuters.com.   Please note, not all of your courses will have TWEN pages set-up, so please do not worry if you don’t find one for a particular class.  Your professor will notify you if there is a TWEN page for your class.

Additional information on Registering for and using TWEN can be found here.

Some professors may use Canvas (a learning management system) instead of TWEN. To learn how to use Canvas, please take Canvas the student training course.
